Official Currency

The official currency of the Cayman Islands is the Cayman Islands Dollar (KYD). Introduced in 1972, it replaced the Jamaican Dollar and is pegged to the U.S. Dollar at a fixed rate of 1 KYD = 1.20 USD.

While KYD is the official currency, U.S. Dollars are widely accepted, especially in tourist areas.
